Website Clarifications

It sounds like some residents feel wary of diving in and really taking advantage of the features of the website, and may find all the formatting methods and signup procedures daunting.

I want to assure you that you don’t have anything to fear; old versions of articles are backed up every time you edit, so if we need to we can always go back if you make a really bad mistake. No information is ever lost.

If you ever want to post something:

  1. you can try and post it yourself (and if the formatting looks wrong, I can always clean it up)
  2. send or email the information to me and I will put it on the website.

There are two places on the website to create an account:

  • Blog: If you create an account with the “register” tab on the blog page, you will only be creating a blog account. Unless you want to be notified about responses to your responses, this isn’t really necessary.
  • Community Guide: It is recommended that you create an account by clicking “Log in/create account” link on the left sidebar of the Community Guide. This will let people know who is making changes, as well as allow you to be notified by email when pages that you are watching get changed.

In the coming weeks, I will be organizing workshops for those of you who are visual learners or just need some hands-on instruction. Please send a quick email to me so that I can gauge interest: webmaster@southsilverspring.org.

I leave an open invitation, if you ever have suggestions, questions, or comments about this website, please email me at webmaster@southsilverspring.org.
