Good job! Looking forward to the first of what may grow into one of Montgomery County’s big street festivals.

And on a side note, ever think about creating a South Silver Spring Farmers Market? There should be more then enough residents to support it.

    A farmers market would ROCK!

Even better, may I suggest relocation of the Amish market in Burtonsville to South Silver Spring. Friggin’ awesome!

You would think I would be the last person not advocating something new for South Silver Spring. However, I would personally like to see more attendance at the farmer’s market on Ellsworth and I think a SSS farmer’s market would take away their business. Besides, I look forward to that nice walk every Saturday morning.

I haven’t been following the Amish market issue, but if they were to relocate to SSS (but would they need an indoor location?) I don’t think I’d oppose it. I keep telling people we need more grocer choices in SSS. Of course, the residents of Burtonsville might not agree with me.

The Gateway Revitalization Corp is currently working to get an outdoor market in the South Silver Spring area. The county is working on getting some funding to help support it.

    Fingers crossed.

The farmers market downtown isn’t that good, that why attendence is low. I was thinking more along the lines of the Sunday Takoma Park market which is tremendous. No reason we couldn’t do as well. Imagine being able to walk a block ot two on a spring or summer weekend morning to a farmers market here in South Silver Spring!
