Jackie’s Restaurant to expand outdoor dining

Jackie this morning announced in a tweet that more outdoor dining space will be coming to Jackie’s Restuarant. She plans to expand along the sidewalk offering a significant increase from what’s currently available and expects the regulatory hurdles to be cleared in about three weeks.

Fire Station One construction coming along

As noted earlier, Fire Station One is moving ahead with plans to open a pub this spring. They are currently working on the roof and the interior, as seen in the photo.

1200 East-West opened

Two weeks ago the public art at 1200 East-West was installed and their first tenants moved in at that time. No retail has been announced thus far. Pricing ranges from about $1,700 for 1 bedroom to about $2,800 for 2 bedrooms, a den, and 2.5 bathrooms. Public art photo courtesy George Pierson.

I don’t fullly understand the Fire Station One brand and how/if it’s affiliated with Hook & Ladder brewing? No mention of each other on their respective websites.

Yeah, I’m a bit confused by the setup as well. It appears that Fire Station One is owned by Jeremy Gruber, who is a large shareholder of Hook & Ladder. So maybe Fire Station One isn’t owned by H&L, but there will be cross-promotion? This article might shed a bit of light on it.

Turns out they aren’t affiliated anymore.  I’m unclear how FS1 will consider itself a “brewing company” – perhaps put a label on a mass market brew?

on 1200 E-W: This is only for rent, no apts may be bought outright?

What is that art anyway? A DNA strand?

  • Jimmy Obomsawin

Yes, they are rental apartments only. The Argent across the street, however, last I heard is still supposed to be condos. However, someone in the comments of another post here said that the owner of the building foreclosed so if another company comes along and buys the building that could be changed.

I think it looks like a rocket ship. I’m not so sure I like it. To me it looks like something from Tomorrowland.
