Next SSSNA Meeting [UPDATED]
Are you aware that the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) will likely be making drastic cuts to service and/or increasing fees to use public transit, and do you want to know what we can do to try and improve our public transportation system?
Have you walked around the neighborhood and accidentally stepped in... dog mess?
Did you know that Jackie's Restaurant has a new chef and menu and wants to share their delicious new food with the community?
And lastly, are you interested in getting more involved in SSSNA? We are holding elections for our officers!
All of these questions will be answered at the next SSSNA meeting on Thursday February 4th at 7:30pm.
Agenda
- Elections - We are holding elections for our executive board, with all current officers seeking reelection: president (Evan Glass), vice president (David Fogel), treasurer (John Murphy) and secretary (Nellie Dickens). If you are interested in running for one of these positions, please email Jason Gedeik at jged...@hotmail.com . Nominations will also be taken at the meeting. Please note that we have many other positions and opportunities for those interested in becoming more involved, such as chairs of our social committee, safety committee, redevelopment committee and others.
- Pet Etiquette - Due to the recent chatter about pet owners not living up to their responsibilities, we will be having a short discussion with Jaime Deason, owner of Fetch Petcare of Silver Spring, and Jessica Simon, owner of Living Ruff pet store, to hear about the services they provide for pet owners and learn about the best ways to help keep our sidewalks clean.
- Transit - Hans Reimer, Vice President of Action Committee for Transit, will facilitate a conversation about our transportation woes, what we can expect with Metrorail and Metrobus service, and how we as citizens can help improve the situation.
- Future SSSNA Events - If you have ideas about what we can do to improve the community -- aesthetically, socially, volunteerism -- bring your ideas and suggestions!
And to reiterate, Jackie's Restaurant will be donating some food to share with the community she loves. Yum!
Please save the date and when we'll send an update when we finalize the location.
The meeting will be held in the Eastern Village Cohousing social room at 7981 Eastern Avenue.
Your neighbor,
Evan Glass
President, South Silver Spring Neighborhood Association
