For: 2007 Exhibition at the South Silver Spring Block Party : Celebrating Community
When: Sunday, May 20, 2007 -- 1-5pm (rain date 6/3)
Where: Kennett St. in Silver Spring Md.
What: The first annual South Silver Spring Block Party is an event organized by the South Silver Spring Neighborhood Association with assistance from Montgomery County, Gateway Georgia Avenue Revitalization Corporation and area sponsors. The impetus behind the event is a community building party for the nearly 3,500 residents within a ½ block radius of Kennett St. in South Silver Spring. The Block Party will consist of arts vendors, food vendors, an interactive children's art area, moon bounce, fire truck, stage w/appx. 10 performing arts acts and retail business vendors. Over 5,000 flyers will be distributed to the nearby condo and apartment communities as well as notices in local newspapers and community listservs/notice boards and blogs. Each selected artist will also be featured on the event's website.
There are 20 exhibition opportunities for local artists of all mediums.

Jurors will make decisions based on quality of work, but preference will be given to artists located within the Silver Spring Arts and Entertainment District.
Each artist will be given approximately 8'x6' of space. Artists should be self-sufficient in their ability to present their work. If an artists needs assistance in procuring a table or booth, SSSNA can put them in touch with a supplier that will provide a discount for said rental costs. If selected, there will be a $50.00 exhibition fee.
